Rivers Conservation Plan

In November 2005, Muddy Creek Trout Unlimited received a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2) for the Rivers Conservation Plan (RCP).  The grant will be used to fund the preparation of a Watershed Conservation Plan (WCP) for the entire Muddy Creek watershed.  A WCP is an inventory and assessment of the issues, concerns, threats and opportunities within the watershed and the development of a long term management strategy for the preservation, conservation, and restoration of watershed resources.

One benefit of this project is the continued funding through multiple grant opportunities of the recommendations within the plan.  Provided that at least 51% of the municipalities within the watershed adopt the plan by way of resolution, the recommendations in the plan are eligible for prioritized funding.  It’s important to understand that when a municipality adopts the plan, they are not committed to implementation.  It is strictly voluntary.

Muddy Creek TU has contracted with local firm Buchart-Horn, Inc. to help prepare the plan. The firm’s project manager, Jayson Romig, will attend the public meetings and answer any questions you may have about the project.
If you have any questions regarding the meetings, please contac:
Mr. Maurice Chioda, Muddy Creek TU, at muddycreekt@comcast.net

The following pdf documents further explain some of the details of necessary to accomplish the goals of the plan. One of the most important detail is public involvement. Please take a few minutes to complete the form and return it via email to the Website at muddycreekt@comcast.net.
